Perseverance

Consider it pure joy,
whenever you face trials of any kind,
because you know that the testing of your faith
develops perseverance.
Perseverance must finish its work
so that you may be mature
and complete,
not lacking anything...
James 1:2-4

Blessings of Perseverance
Get up and carry on...
There is work to do,
and joy in faith...
I claim peace, order, grace and favor...

Yaya

After the Civil War, many a man and woman had to make tough decisions. It was the year 1872. Little Daniel walked out of his families Franklin County Alabama shack toward the barn to do his chores. Daniel was 12 years old, the eldest of eight children. Daniel had a load of chores for a small boy, for his Pa, John Dobson worked in nearby Florence at a lumber mill next to the Tennessee river. Pa was gone all week and at times up to two weeks before he was able to come home. Times were hard and work was scarce. Ma, Daniel and the young'en's made do with the grace of God. Pa always said he would take them all away from this. As Daniel walked to the barn, there was Pa and Ma arguing and Ma ran to the house crying. Pa had tears in his eyes so Daniel ran to Pa and threw is arms around him. Pa was home early in the middle of the work week. What's wrong Pa, " Daniel said ". Pa told Daniel he had to take the team and wagon into town and would he like to go with him. Being a young lad, Daniel wanted to be with his Pa, so he hopped in the seat next to Pa and they rode out of the barn. Unbeknownest to Daniel, that would be the last time he laid eyes on his Ma and siblings. As dark grew near, Daniel realized that Pa was on the run. Pa and Daniel made it up into Missouri where both found a job at a lumber mill, work Pa was use to. As the years rolled by Daniel longed for his Ma. When Daniel was in his twenty's Pa died and Daniel worked hard to save money to make the trip back to Franklin County to see his family. In the year 1887, Daniel made the journey back home on horse. A trip that took three month's. Working for food and board along the way. Ma's neighbor's told Daniel that Ma had remarried and left for Colorado a couple years after Pa had left with Daniel. Daniel was devastated. He turned the horse around and headed back to Missouri. Daniel stopped in Arkansas on the way back and paid a visit to a man that had boarded him on the way down. This man had a daughter that Daniel was sweet on and she him. Daniel asked for her hand in marriage and married her that next night. They spend the winter in Arkansas before he headed on to Missouri to work at the saw mill and to make their new home. For years Daniel yearned for his Ma and the siblings that he barely knew. Daniel vowed to try to find them someday in Colorado. Daniel died before that dream became a reality. In the 1960's the phone rang in a rural home in Missouri and it was a lady in her seventy's calling from Colorado asking if this was a George Dobson. George replied that it was and the little old lady say's " I think we are kinfolk ". This story is about Perseverance in a way. Why did Pa leave, was he in trouble, was he a coward, was Ma to much to handle, we to this day, do not know. But Daniel for years wanted to reconnect and generations of family later through perseverance and technology, Daniels wish came true. I am the grandson of George and tho I and the Colorado kin have never met, the circle is complete through perseverance.
